John Byron


Son of John Byron and Mary Richardson. .

Born in 1932, the twenty-second year of the reign of King George V, and died aged thirty-seven in the fifty-eighth year of the reign of Queen Victoria  He has 29 direct descendants in the family.

Biography


Maj.-Gen. John Byron was born on 14 September 1832 at Guildford, London, England. He was the son of Reverend John Byron and Mary Richardson. He married Susan Amelia Graves Chiappini, daughter of Edward Lorenzo Chiappini and Anna Catharina Margaretha Gie, on 24 October 1865 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa. He died on 13 August 1895 at age 62 at Surbiton, Surrey, England. He fought in the Crimea War in 1854, where he was taken prisoner by the Russians at Sebastopol. He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857. He gained the rank of Major-General in the service of the 10th Regiment of Foot. He was Major-General of the 10th Foot.
