Sholto Francis Guy Douglas, Viscount Drumlanrig was born on 1 June 1967. He is the son of David Harrington Angus Douglas, 12th Marquess of Queensberry and Alexandra Sich.

He was styled as Viscount Drumlanrig in 1969. He had two brothers and four sisters.
