Funeral Notice

FEDORKOW, ROSANNE CAMPBELL RICHARDSON - (NEE Richardson) JULY 31, 1925 to SEPTEMBER 20, 2011. Rosanne passed away after a brief illness at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. She was a wonderful and greatly loved wife to William, mother to son Guy and daughter Lou, and sister to Eleanor Richardson McKitrick. Having completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, Rosanne was awarded a scholarship to undertake a graduate degree specializing in industrial relations at Cornell University. Her studies at Cornell were interrupted when a position with her father at what is now Ontario Hydro brought her to Niagara from her home base in Toronto. Starting as a guide at the Queenston Power Plant, she went on to serve as a highly respected librarian, paraprofessional educator and volunteer in the Niagara Region, remembered particularly for her work establishing and building the Queenston Library and as a board member for the Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre. Mom, we miss you greatly. You gave us so much love and affection. You know we love you very, very much and always will. A private family interment will take place, followed by a celebration of Rosanne's life at the Queenston Community Center on Saturday, October 15th, 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Rosanne’s Cancer Prevention & Chronic Care Support Funds which have been established through the Niagara Community Foundation (NCF) as a means to continue her work for the healthcare sector. The NCF allows us to pool capital and approach designated charities with requests for dedicated efforts with the greatest potential to make an impact. In particular, Rosanne's Cancer Prevention Fund has been established to address a perceived need to increase expenditures on progressive cancer prevention research, which has been largely sacrificed for research leading to the development of cancer drugs and treatments for those who currently lack access to underutilized and yet to be discovered knowledge and resources which could help them avoid succumbing to the disease. Rosanne's Chronic Care Support Fund has been established to address the critical need for investment in chronic care wards’ front line staff capacities to deliver patient care and ease the associated psychological, emotional and physical stress for both patients and staff. For more information please go to www.niagaracommunityfoundation.org and click on the Lives We've Touched link which will lead you to the Rosanne's Funds story and direct links enabling you to make a secure donation on-line c/o the Niagara Community Foundation (NCF), or access a printable form which can be mailed to the NCF with your cheque. Persons interested in more information about the funds can send contact information to Morse & Son Funeral Home or attend Rosanne's celebration in Queenston on October 15th.
