Hugh Leycester Edye


Son of Malcolm De Saumarez Edye and Isabel Emily Hanmer Leycester. .

Born in 1879, the forty-second year of the reign of Queen Victoria.

New Orleans


Aged 25 and with $40 in his pocket, Hugh sailed from Plymouth to New Orleans on the SS Albania. Arriving at Immigration in Pensacola, Florida, he declared he was going to British Consul in New Orleans and if unable to find work then will leave for England.

In 1911, aged 60, his mother left him the watch and chain, studs & cigarette case which belonged to his father.
