Frances Richardson


Daughter of William Richardson and Anna Maria Lacy. .

Born in Calcutta, India in 1773, the thirteenth year of the reign of King George III, and died aged eighty-four in New York, USA in the twenty-second year of the reign of Queen Victoria  She has 5 direct descendants in the family.


Recorded as being on board Netunno with her husband Michael Hogan and father destined for Indian ports then for Europe.

Biography

Frances ( Fanny) Richardson was born on 20 December 1773 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, her father, Captain William Richardson, was 35, and her mother, Anna, was 37. She married Captain Michael HOGAN on 15 December 1789 in her hometown. They had four children during their marriage. She died on 9 October 1859 in Staten Island, New York, USA, having lived a long life of 85 years.



They called Frances a “dark-skinned Indian princess,” and fell in with most of Hogan’s braggadocio, which included the claim that on his marriage, he had received a dowry of “400,000 English sovereigns, or about two million dollars,” or according to other sources, “40,000 pounds in gold.”
