George ( Bert) Herbert Richardson


Son of William Charles Richardson and Martha Ada. .

Born in Maidenhead, England in 1880, the forty-third year of the reign of Queen Victoria, and died aged fifty-two in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex in the twenty-third year of the reign of King George V  He has 5 direct descendants in the family.

Biography

George Herbert Richardson and his twin brother George Herbert (Bert) were born on 22 June 1880 in Maidenhead, Berkshire, their father, William, was 28, and their mother, Martha, was 31.A grocer . He married Gertrude Ellen Dutton in July 1908 in Witney, Oxfordshire. He died on 10 March 1933 in Sea, Somerset, at the age of 52.

Another Family Photographer

The photograph opposite is now believed to be by George - his wife came from Bampton and he must have been close to his younger brother Arthur, as Arthur was staying with them in South Benfleet in 1911 where George was (like his father) a Grocer.
The photograph is believed to be of John Morgan Owen, Arthur's father-in-law (1860-1933) and must have been taken in his later years.
George was the nephew of the pioneer photographer Alexander Grossmann who took photographs of the family and may have encouraged George to take up the profession.
