A brief biography

Rowley William Crabb Richardson


Son of William Richardson and Elizabeth White. .

Born in 1822, the second year of the reign of King George IV, and died aged seventy-one in the fifty-sixth year of the reign of Queen Victoria  He has 45 direct descendants in the family.

Christened at Holy Trinity Church, Gosport, Hampshire (TJR)
08/05/1855 Married in Surbiton, Surrey, on 08/05/1855.
Worked as a Superintendant of the India Branch, Admiralty.

In 1888, aged 66, he published the book SURBITON - THIRTY-TWO YEARS OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT 1855- 1887

Barge Owner

In 1890, he bought four Thames barges in partnership with Ernest Frederick Quilter.

In 1893 he was owner of the Thames barge ACTIVE and resident at 86 Cannon Street in the City of London

Rowley William Crab Richardson was born on 12 May 1822 in Gosport, Hampshire, his father, Vice Adm. William Richardson, was 37 and his mother, Elizabeth White, was 33. He married Sarah Emma Radcliffe on 8 May 1855 in Surbiton, Surrey. They had 12 children in 17 years. He died on 5 September 1889 in England at
