Cathcart (Roly) Roland Wason


Son of Cathcart Romer Wason and Helen Muriel Graham. .

Born in Cossington, Bridgwater in 1907, the sixth year of the reign of King Edward VII, and died aged ninety in the forty-sixth year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II  He has 1 direct descendant in the family.

Biography


Cathcart Roland Wason, archaeologist, lens grinder, bus driver and writer: born Cossington, Somerset 2 April 1907; married 1935 Margherita Lamb (died 1992; three sons); died Taunton, Somerset 6 January 1998.

Roly Wason was one of the great Cambridge intellects of the era preceding the likes of Anthony Blunt and Kim Philby and, as with them, his political thinking changed radically from the cosy conversatism into which he was born towards Marxism;
