Mary Ann De La Motte was born on 19 November 1823 in Frimley, Surrey, her father, Maj., was 41, and her mother, Sophia, was 25. She married Maj Gen.Charles Robert West Hervey on 21 September 1842 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. They had six children during their marriage. She died on 2 March 1880 at the age of 56.
