George Frederick Muntz

Born in 1822, the second year of the reign of King George IV, and died aged seventy-six in the sixty-first year of the reign of Queen Victoria  He has 9 direct descendants in the family.

Umberslade Hall

From 1850 Umberslade Hall was leased by George's father, George Frederic Muntz, Member of Parliament for Birmingham. After his death in 1857 George Frederick bought the estate and much enlarged and improved the Hall. During this time Muntz junior had a church built on the estate, Umberslade Baptist Church, which exists to this day separately to the Hall. In 1881 the household comprised thirty including thirteen resident servants.
