This is probably not the first time you have thought of, or started, a family tree.
There are probably others in the family, or extended family, who have also tried, and might even
have something up on the web.
Researching into your family history is unlikely to be a full time job for you or anyone else.
You will have occasional bursts of activity but there will be periods when you have other things to do.
This is the reality of family history research and this is why we have designed The Surname Tree around
the concept of having three curators sharing this family venture, to ensure all the work you do now will benefit future generations.
If you look around you should be able to find two other relatives who have researched the family's history,
perhaps this is the opportunity to involve a distant cousin that knows a lot.
Research becomes so much more interesting if others are working alongside you, and if they are from different sides of the family, all the better.
With three curators you can share the effort of keeping the research going, and more important
you can share the rewards of chasing down information and finding the occasional nugget that
can really enhance a biography or the story of the whole family.
With three creators, the website is not going to disappear one day because someone lost interest or forget to
update their payment details. If one of you three curators retires, you need to recruit a replacement,
in this way you can ensure all the work you are dedicating to this is indeed going to be
enjoyed by the next generation - including some that may not even be born yet. And with the monthly
cost of £15 shared between three people, it should not stretch anybody's budget.
So that is why we - and you - need three curators, and we hope it will prove its value over time.
